Memorial Facilities
The MPVA designates significant buildings, structures and other memorial facilities to honor, remember, and commemorate the noble contributions patriots and veterans have made to the Republic of Korea. There are many memorial facilities throughout the country. They are classified as "independence movement memorial facilities" and "national defense memorial facilities." Independence movement memorial facilities commemorate Korea's independence movements against Japanese colonial rule. National defense memorial facilities commemorate the Korean War.
Memorial Facilities Overseas
There are a number of memorial facilities worldwide to pay tribute to the independence movements abroad during the Japanese colonial rule of Korea, and the sacrifice and service of Korea's UN allies during the Korean War (1950-1953).
