The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister Kang
Jung-ai) announced the selection of ROK Army Major General Kim Woong-soo (then Brigadier General) as the ‘Korean War Hero of July 2024.’ Major General Kim was recognized for his exceptional leadership in the Battle of Arrowhead Hill (Hill 281) in Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province, from June 29 to July 11, 1953. He successfully repelled the fierce attacks of the Chinese forces, thwarting their objectives. |
