MPVA Did You Know Series #13:
Expressing 80 anniversary of Liberation through Colors: MPVA and Noroo Paint Launch ‘Liberation 80 Color Campaign’
To mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA) launched the “Liberation 80 Color Campaign” in partnership with Noroo Paint, a company founded in 1945, the very year of Korea’s independence.
Through a national survey—particularly engaging the younger 2030 generation—citizens selected symbolic colors of Liberation: white (peace), red (independence & sacrifice), blue (sovereignty & future), and black (patriotism).
Based on these, MPVA and Noroo Paint developed a unifying representative color, “Ja-ju (자주, KR0815),” symbolizing integration and harmony.
The campaign promotes these colors across public spaces, cultural events, online content, so that citizens can see and experience the meaning of Liberation in everyday life.
