여러분의 한국방문을 진심으로 환영합니다.

(순차통역) Honored families of the Korean War fallen heroes from the United States, I extend my warmest welcome to your visit to Korea.

  먼저, 대한민국의 국민과 자유민주주의를 수호하기 위해 젊음을 모두 바친 수많은 참전용사분들께 깊은 경의를 표합니다.

또한, 사랑하는 남편, 아버지와 형제를 잃고 기나긴 고통과 슬픔 속에서 살아오신 유가족 여러분께 깊은 위로의 말씀을 드립니다. 

 

(순차통역) First and foremost, I want to express my deepest respect to all those young heroes who dedicated his youth to protect Korean people, freedom and democracy.
Taking this opportunity, I express my sincere condolences to the families members who spent years missing their loving husbands, brothers, fathers, and uncles.

그리고, 오늘 추모식에 함께 해주신, 존경하는 보훈단체 회장님들과 대한민국 국회를 대표하여 참석하신 전상수 수석전문위원님, 가평군수님을 비롯한 지역 단체장님들, 그리고 바쁘신 중에도 잊지 않고 의미있는 자리에 함께 해주신 미국 대사관 및 주한미군 관계자 분들께도 감사드립니다. 

(순차통역) My special note of thanks goes to our distinguished guests who are with us today. Among them, we have presidents of veterans associations.
We also have representatives from the National Assembly Sangsoo Jeon.
We are delighted to have local leaders including Gapyeng mayor.
My special note of thanks goes to the US Embassy staff and USFK service members, all the other guests who are with us despite their busy schedules.

  오늘 우리가 기억해야 할 미국군 참전용사들은 당시 고작 10대 후반, 20대 초반의 젊은이들이었습니다. 당시만 해도 낯설고 머나먼 나라였던 한국으로 떠나올 때의 불안감, 그리고 그들이 전장에서 경험했을 참혹함은 결코 잊지 못할 시간이었고, 아픈 역사입니다. 

(순차통역) Today we gather at this place to remember those young soldiers who are in their 20’s and some even teenagers who gave all for this land.
These young men had to fight the fear of an unknown land in Asia, far away from their home, and the cruelty of war they experienced has become history.

그러나, 그들의 소중한 희생이야말로 한반도 평화와 번영의 씨앗이 되었음을 우리 모두는 분명하게 기억합니다.

(순차통역) However, we clearly remember that their noble sacrifice laid the foundation for peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula.
