남아프리카공화국 참전용사 감사오찬 인사말씀
오늘 이렇게 남아프리카공화국 참전용사님과 가족 분들을 뵙게 되어 정말 기쁘고 반갑습니다.
이 오찬은 대한민국의 영웅이신 여러분께 감사의 마음을 전하기 위해 마련된 자리입니다. 바쁘신 중에도 초청에 응해주셔서 진심으로 감사드립니다.
(순차통역) It is my great privilege and pleasure to meet the UN Korean War veterans of the Republic of South Africa and family members today.
This luncheon is organized in order to express our appreciation to all of you, the heroes of the Republic of Korea. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for joining us today despite your busy schedule.
남아프리카공화국은 69년 전, 전쟁으로 고통받던 대한민국을 위해 826명의 전투 비행대대 용사들을 파병하는 인류애를 보여주었습니다.
그리고 그 용사들은 주요 시설물 폭격 등 수많은 공을 세우셨지만, 안타깝게도 서른여섯 분이 소중한 목숨을 잃고, 여덟 분이 포로가 되는 아픔을 겪어야 했습니다.
(순차통역) 69 years ago, the Republic of South Africa displayed its great love for humanity by sending 826 soldiers of the No.2 Squadron of the South African Air Force to the Republic of Korea, a country ravaged by war.
The soldiers made many decisive contributions by destroying major military facilities of the enemy but sadly, lives of 36 soldiers were lost on the battlefield and 8 of them were captured.
저는 대한민국 정부와 국민을 대표해 남아공 참전용사 분들의 희생에 깊은 경의를 표하며, 소중한 가족을 잃은 유가족 분들께도 진심어린 위로의 말씀을 드립니다.
(순차통역) On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Korea, I would like to express my deepest respect to the South African veterans who were sacrificed during the Korean War and convey my sympathies to the bereaved family members who lost their loved ones.
대한민국은 여러분의 용기와 투혼, 그리고 고귀한 희생으로 되찾은 자유와 평화를 토대로 오늘의 경제 강국을 이룰 수 있었음을 영원히 기억할 것입니다.
(순차통역) The Republic of Korea will never forget that the economic prosperity we enjoy today was made possible only thanks to the freedom and peace that the South African Korean War veterans preserved with their courage, valor, and noble sacrifice.
6·25전쟁 70주년인 내년에는 여러분을 비롯한 모든 유엔참전용사 분들의 희생과 공헌을 더욱 널리 알릴 수 있도록 모든 정성을 다하겠다는 말씀을 드립니다.
(순차통역) I assure you today that as we mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War in the coming year, I will put my utmost effort in spreading the values of the sacrifice and contribution made by each and every UN Korean War veteran including all of you.
오늘 이 자리가 부족하지만 대한민국이 여러분께 드리는 작은 성의로 이해해 주시면 감사하겠습니다.
(순차통역) This luncheon is our small token of appreciation, which I know falls short of the warm helping hands you extended to us during the Korean War.
