오늘 이렇게 캐나다 참전용사님과 가족 여러분을 뵙게 되어 정말 기쁘고 반갑습니다.
대한민국의 영웅 분들을 모시는 자리에 참석해주셔서 진심으로 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.
(순차통역) It is my great pleasure and joy to meet Canadian Veterans and their families today.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for being with us to express our appreciation to the heroes for the Republic of Korea.
또한, 오늘 자리에 함께해 주신 연아마틴 상원의원님과 넬리신 하원의원님, 이영해 캐나다 한인협회장님, 신맹호 주캐나다 대사님께도 감사드립니다.

참전용사 여러분,
여러분께서는 70년 전, 낯선 땅, 낯선 나라의 국민들을 위해 포연이 휩싸인 전쟁터로 기꺼이 달려와 주셨습니다.
(순차통역) Dear veterans, seventy years ago, you were willing to come to a battlefield filled with gun smoke for the people you never met in a strange country you never heard.
목숨을 건 여러분의 용기와 투혼 덕분에 대한민국은 자유와 평화를 지켜내고 오늘의 번영을 이룰 수 있었습니다. 저는 우리 정부와 국민을 대표해 여러분께 깊은 존경과 감사를 드립니다.
(순차통역) Thanks to your bravery and unwavering determination, the Republic of Korea was able to preserve freedom and peace and achieve today's prosperity. On behalf of our government and the people, I extend my deep respect and gratitude to you.
대한민국은 이런 여러분의 희생과 공헌을 잊지 않고 감사의 마음을 전하는데 최선을 다하겠습니다. 오늘 이 자리 역시, 작지만 그런 마음을 담아 준비했습니다.
(순차통역) The Republic of Korea will never forget your sacrifices and contributions and will do our best to express our gratitude. Today, we prepared the dinner as a small token of our appreciation.
뿐만 아니라, 우리의 미래 세대들도 여러분의 그 따뜻한 인류애를 가슴에 품고 여러분 후손들과의 우정을 이어갈 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.
(순차통역) In addition, we will do our best to teach our future generations so that they will cherish your humanity and continue the friendship with your descendants.
올해는 여러분께서 참전하셨던 6·25전쟁이 일어난 지 70년이 되는 특별한 해입니다.
참전용사와 가족 분들을 한국으로 모시고, 또 이곳 캐나다에서도 위로·감사행사와 추모음악회를 준비하고 있는 만큼, 여러분의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.
(순차통역) This year is all the more special as it marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War that you fought in.
I would like to ask for your kind interest and participation as we are inviting veterans and their families to Korea and preparing a appreciation and tribute events and memorial concert.
특히, 잠시 후에는 고(故) 쟝-폴 쌍토방 참전용사님께서 6·25전쟁에서 직접 사용하셨던 총검과 총검집을 전달받게 됩니다. 먼저 이 자리를 빌려 지난해 7월, 안타깝게 생을 달리하신 쟝-폴 쌍토방 용사님의 명복을 빕니다.
(순차통역) In particular, later today we will receive the bayonet and case that the Jean-Paul St.Aubin used during the Korean War. I would like to pay my tribute to Jean-Paul St.Aubin who passed away in July last year.
고인의 혼이 깃든 소중한 유품은 고인께서 목숨걸고 지키고자 했던 나라, 대한민국 비무장지대(DMZ)의 철책과 함께 녹여 기념패로 만든 다음 캐나다 정부에 돌려 드리겠습니다.
(순차통역) We will give the precious legacy back to the Canadian government after we turn it into a memorial plaque by melting it with barbed wire from the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) of the Republic of Korea.
이 패는 대한민국이 캐나다 참전용사님들과 캐나다 정부에 드리는 감사의 징표가 될 것입니다.
(순차통역) The plaque will be a token of our appreciation to the Canadian veterans and government.
저는 대한민국 국가보훈처장으로서 혈맹으로 맺어진 캐나다와의 우정, 그리고 참전용사님들과의 인연을 언제나 가슴에 새기면서 역할을 해 나가겠다는 약속을 드립니다.
(순차통역) As the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of Korea, I promise to fulfill my responsibilities always reminding myself of close friendship with Canada and ties with veterans.
