6·25전쟁 미국군 실종·포로장병 유족 위로만찬사 존경하는 6·25참전 미국군 실종·포로장병 유가족 여러분! (순차통역)Families of those unaccounted-for from the Korean War! 먼저, 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 지키기 위해 헌신하셨던 (순차통역)First and foremost, I express my greatest respects to those went missing or captured to defend Korea's freedom and peace. I also want to express my deepest condolences to the families who lost their husband, father, uncle and brother and have spent many years in uncertainty and profound grief. At the same time, I am glad to meet the families of the fallen heroes today. (순차통역) I want to take this opportunity to thank the DPAA that helped us to bring the families together and other distinguished guests who are with us. 저는 대한민국 정부와 국민을 대신하여 미국군 실종·포로장병의 숭고한 희생을 기리고, 유가족 여러분께 감사와 위로를 전하고자 먼 길을 달려왔습니다. (순차통역) I have flown thousands miles to represent my government and people to remember those US fallen heroes and their noblest sacrifice, and to express the country's gratitude to the surviving families. It is my first visit to the US as Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. (순차통역) During my 13-hour flight to the US, I imagined the uncertainty and fear of an unknown land the UN veterans, including US men must have felt on their way to Korea to fight under the UN flags, not knowing the language nor the weather conditions. I become humbled when I think of their courage and noble spirit. 지난 4월, 우리나라 가평의 ‘미국군 실종·포로 추모식’에서 (순차통역) Last April in Gapeong, Korea, one granddaughter whose grandfather was sacrificed during the Korean War read a poignant and moving letter to her grandfather. I want to read some of her words to you. “할아버지, 당신의 희생은 결코 헛되지 않았습니다. 할아버지께서 지켜주셨던 바로 그 대한민국 국민들이, 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 위해 헌신하셨던 할아버지께 경의를 드리며 기억하고, 추모하고 있습니다.” (순차통역)(Quote) "Papa, your life was not given in vain. The same people you fought to help and protect, the South Koreans, they are honoring and memorializing you this week for the ultimate sacrifice you gave for their country and its freedom." 존경하는 유가족 여러분 ! (순차통역) Honored families!
(순차통역)Based on the peace your families and UN veterans protected for Korea, the Republic of Korea has achieved the remarkable economic development and democratization the world has marvelled at. Now Korea is striving for permanent peace. 지난 7월, 미국과 북한이 미군 유해발굴을 위한 북한 내 공동조사에 합의함으로써 11년 만에 양국 간 공동조사가 (순차통역)One of the most recent and positive developments has been made in July this [year], when a joint research resumed in 11 years after the US and North Korea had agreed to work together to find US remains in the North. 마침내 7월 27일, 6·25전쟁 정전협정 65주년을 맞아 (순차통역)Finally on July 27, the 65th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, the 55 sets of US remains who died in North Korea were sent to the US Air Force Base in Osan, and on August 1 an honorable carry ceremony was held in Hawaii, commemorating the remains' return to their home. (순차통역) Now we are looking forward to a 'great moment', when all remains return to many families who have waited for long time. (순차통역) Honored families! (순차통역) The noble sacrifice and contribution of the US fallen heroes will shine forever in our hearts. 2018. 8. 9. |
