대한민국의 자유와 평화를 지켜내신 여러분의 방문을 진심으로 환영합니다.
Honourable veterans and family members from the four Commonwealth countries!
I sincerely welcome you to the Republic of Korea, the country whose freedom and peace you successfully defended.
특히 이 자리에 계신 스물 여섯 분의 참전용사님들은 젊은 시절 대한민국을 지키기 위해 목숨을 걸고 싸우셨던 우리의 영웅이십니다.
I would like to acknowledge the twenty-six veterans who are with us today as our heroes who risked their lives to protect the Republic of Korea in their younger days.
고령에도 불구하고, 대한민국을 잊지 않고 다시 찾아주신 참전용사 여러분께 감사드립니다.
I would like to express my gratitude to our heroes who have not forgotten the Republic of Korea and revisited the country despite being at a ripe old age.
또한, 이 자리에 함께 해주신 제임스 최 호주 대사님과 마이클 대나허 캐나다 대사님, 필립 터너 뉴질랜드 대사님과 사이먼 스미스 영국 대사님, 줄리안 클레어 아일랜드 대사님, 마크 질렛 유엔군사령부 참모장님과 박희모 6·25참전유공자회 회장님, 지갑종 유엔참전국협회장님을 비롯한 내외 귀빈 여러분께도 깊이 감사드립니다.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to Ambassadors James Choi of Australia, Michael Danagher of Canada, Philip Turner of New Zealand, Simon Smith of the United Kingdom and Julian Clare of Ireland as well as United Nations Command Chief of Staff Mark Gillette, Chairman Park Heemo of the Korean War Veterans Association, Chairman Chi Gapjong of the UN Korean War Allies Association and other distinguished guests who have joined us this evening.

70여 년 전 낯설고 머나먼 대한민국이 전쟁의 위기에 처했을 때 참전용사 여러분은 따뜻한 손길을 내밀어 주셨습니다.
Approximately 70 years ago when the Republic of Korea, a still unfamiliar and faraway country, faced the crisis of war, you, honourable veterans, extended warm helping hands.
여러분께서 목숨을 걸고 지킨 대한민국은 눈부신 경제발전과 수준 높은 민주주의를 동시에 이룩한 선진국으로 성장하였습니다.
The Republic of Korea you fought for has developed into an advanced country which has simultaneously achieved remarkable economic growth and mature democracy.
이제 대한민국은 세계인의 관심 속에 ‘항구적 평화’를 정착시키기 위하여 온 힘을 쏟고 있습니다.
With global eyes on the region, the Republic of Korea is now making utmost efforts to establish 'permanent peace'.
한반도의 평화야말로 여러분께서 보여주셨던 투혼에 진정으로 보답하는 길이라고 생각합니다.
I believe that achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula is the true way to honour your sacrifice and dedication.
우리 정부와 국민들은 참전용사 여러분께서 내밀어주신 뜨거운 인류애의 손길을 영원히 기억하겠습니다.
The government and the people of the Republic of Korea will always remember your love for humanity and helping hands extended to us.
고국에 돌아가시더라도 항상 애정을 가지고 응원해 주시길 바랍니다.
I ask for your continued support and affection even after returning to your home countries.
모쪼록 이번 방문이 따뜻하고 소중한 기억으로 간직되시길 바라며, 편안한 저녁 시간되시길 바랍니다.
