오늘 우리는 전쟁으로부터 대한민국을 지키기 위해 투혼을 보여 주셨던 영웅을 다시 이 땅에 모셨습니다.
With us today in this land is a returning hero who displayed gallantry while defending the Republic of Korea in war.
대한민국의 품에서 영원한 안식에 들어가실 고(故) 알베르트 휴 맥브라이드 참전용사를 우리 정부와 국민의 이름으로 엄숙히 맞이합니다.
In the name of the government and the people of the Republic of Korea, I solemnly welcome the late Mr. Albert Hugh McBride who will rest in eternal peace in the Republic of Korea.
고인께서는 6·25전쟁이 발발한 뒤, 1951년 11월부터 1953년 1월 캐나다로 돌아가시기 전까지 고왕산 ‘후크고지 전투’를 비롯한 여러 전장에서 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 위해 싸우셨습니다.
From November 1951, after the outbreak of the Korean War, until returning to Canada in January 1953, Mr. McBride fought for the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea in many battlefields, including "the Hook" of the Gowang Mountain area.
전쟁에 대한 두려움도 있으셨겠지만, 오로지 사명감으로 이를 극복하셨습니다.
He must have felt the fear of war, but managed to overcome with a strong sense of duty.
정전협정 전 본국으로 귀환하셨던 용사의 기억 속에 대한민국의 모습은 폐허에 가까웠을 것입니다.
Returning home to Canada before the signing of the Armistice, Mr. McBride must have remembered the Republic of Korea as a country in devastation.
그로부터 45년이 지난 1998년, 다시 찾은 한국의 발전된 모습을 보고 많은 감회에 젖으셨을 것으로 생각됩니다.
He must have been deeply moved by the achievements of the Republic of Korea when he revisited the country after 45 years in 1998.
그리고 21년이 더 지난 오늘, 대한민국을 지켰던 영웅은 우리 곁으로 영원히 돌아오셨습니다.
Today, after 21 more years, the hero who defended the Republic Korea returned to us permanently.
우리는 고인을 비롯한 유엔참전용사들의 숭고한 인류애 덕분에 오늘날의 대한민국이 존재할 수 있다는 것을 결코 잊지 않겠습니다.
We will never forget that the Republic of Korea stands where it is today thanks to the deceased hero and many other UN veterans who practiced their noble love for humanity.
참전용사 한 분 한 분의 고귀한 희생으로, 지금의 자유와 평화를 누리고 있음을 영원히 기억하겠습니다.
We will always remember that we are enjoying freedom and peace today owing to the noble sacrifice of all Korean War veterans.
오늘 이 자리에는 고인의 배우자 분도 함께하고 계십니다.
지난 2017년, 고인이 생을 달리하실 때까지 60년이 넘는 세월을 함께하신 이자벨 맥브라이드 여사님께 진심어린 위로의 말씀을 드립니다.
The spouse of the deceased hero is also with us today.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mrs Isabelle McBride who spent over 60 years together with Mr McBride until his last days in 2017.
당신의 동반자가 대한민국에서 편히 잠드시는데 소홀함이 없도록 하겠습니다.
Mrs McBride, your lifelong partner will be taken good care of and will rest in peace in the Republic of Korea.
대한민국의 품으로 돌아오신 우리들의 영웅, 고(故) 알베르트 휴 맥브라이드 용사께 존경과 감사의 마음을 바칩니다.
