주한유엔참전국대사관 국제보훈사업 설명회 인사말씀
존경하는 각 나라 주한 대사님과 무관님, 그리고 유엔사령부 관계자 여러분! 반갑습니다.
(순차통역) Your Excellencies and distinguished guests, including defense attaches and representatives of the United Nations Command! It's a pleasure to meet all of you.
오늘 이 자리는 올 한해 우리 정부의 국제보훈사업이 원활히 추진 될 수 있도록 도움을 주신 여러분께 감사드리고, 내년에도 변함없는 협조를 부탁드리기 위해 마련했습니다.
차가운 날씨에도 불구하고 이렇게 참석해 주셔서 진심으로 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.
(순차통역) Today's event has been prepared to express our appreciation for your support in the smooth delivery of the Korean government's international commemoration programs for UN Korean War veterans and ask for your continued cooperation in the coming year.

대한민국 정부의 국제보훈사업은 전쟁으로 고통받던 우리 국민들에게 따뜻한 손길을 내밀어 준 유엔 참전용사들께 감사드리고, 참전국과의 우정을 확대·발전시키기 위한 주요 정책입니다.
(순차통역) The international commemoration programs are implemented as a major policy of the Korean government in order to express our appreciation to UN Korean War veterans who extended warm helping hands to the nation ravaged by war and to expand and develop friendship with the sending states.
문재인 대통령께서도 대한민국 대통령으로서는 처음으로 지난 9월 태국 순방에서 ‘평화의 사도’ 메달을 참전용사 분께 친수하는 등 국제보훈 행보를 이어가고 계십니다.
(순차통역) President Moon Jae-in is also continuing with his endeavors in international commemoration programs as he, for the first time as the President of the Republic of Korea, conferred in person an Ambassador for Peace medal on a Korean War veteran during the presidential visit to Thailand in September.
특히, 우리 정부는 내년 6·25전쟁 70주년을 맞아 유엔 참전용사와 유가족 분들에 대한 감사와 위로의 마음을 전하기 위해 만반의 준비를 하고 있습니다.
또한, 전쟁을 경험하지 않은 세대들도 유엔군 참전의 의미와 평화의 소중함을 느낄 수 있도록 할 계획입니다.
(순차통역) As the coming year marks the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, the Korean government is making all-out efforts to express appreciation and pay tribute to UN veterans and members of the bereaved family.
There are also plans for the post-war generation to enable them to understand the significance of the UN forces' participation in the Korean War and the true value of peace.
참전국 보훈부 장관회의를 비롯해 참전국 순회음악회, 현지 위로연 등의 국제보훈사업도 역점을 두고 추진할 예정입니다.
(순차통역) In addition to the Ministerial Summit 2020, a gathering of veterans' ministers from UN sending states, we will also emphasize on delivering other international events, including a series of Memorial Peace Concerts and tribute dinner functions.
혈맹으로 맺어진 유엔 참전국과 대한민국의 소중한 인연이 보훈을 통해 더욱 굳건해지는 2020년이 될 수 있도록 여러분의 많은 관심과 협조를 부탁드립니다.
(순차통역) I would like to ask for your interest and cooperation, hoping that the solid ties between UN sending states and the Republic of Korea forged since the Korean War could be even more solidified through our international commemoration programs in 2020.
저는 지난 8월 취임한 이후 한국을 방문하신 분들은 물론, 룩셈부르크와 네덜란드를 찾아 유엔 참전용사와 가족 분들을 만나 뵈었습니다.
감사의 마음을 드리기 위해 한국으로 초청하고 직접 찾아갔는데, 오히려 제 손을 잡고 고맙다고 눈물을 흘리시는 분들이 아직도 눈에 선합니다.
(순차통역) Since my inauguration in August, I have had an opportunity to meet with UN veterans and family members visiting Korea and also with those in Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
While we invited them to Korea and visited them in their home countries to express our appreciation, they held my hands and shed tears in appreciation -- a memory engraved in my heart.
69년 만에 찾은 한국의 발전된 모습을 보시고 참전에 대한 보람과 함께 전쟁의 트라우마를 완전히 치유했다는 분들도 계셨습니다.
(순차통역) I also encountered those who were able to fully recover from the trauma of war as they realized that their participation in the Korean War was never in vain after witnessing the achievements of Korea during their revisit in 69 years.
저는 그 분들의 따뜻한 손과 뜨거운 눈물을 기억하고, 그 상처를 보듬는 국제보훈사업을 추진하는데 모든 정성을 다하겠습니다.
(순차통역) While remembering their warm hands and tears, I will devote myself to delivering our international commemoration programs to touch their hearts and minds.
모쪼록, 여기 계신 여러분과 함께 오래도록 기억되는 뜻 깊은 70주년을 만들어 갈 수 있기를 소망합니다.
(순차통역) I hope that all of us here will make endeavors together to make the 70th anniversary meaningful and long remembered.
